In two reports released yesterday by BC’s Forest Practices Board, it was revealed that audits of Quesnel area ranchers found some disconcerting issues as well as proper practices.
Namely, one report of an audit found that the agreement holder of the area allowed cattle to damage a fish stream in addition to cutting down trees without permission.
As a result, the board is recommending that the range agreement holder in the first report work with the ministry of forests to restore the damaged creek as well as improve their practices.
According to the second report, all range practices were done within the rules of legislation and done well by the reported on agreement holders.
However, the holders were conducting themselves without an approved range plan, a requirement needed in accordance with the board’s rules.
A third agreement holder was audited in earlier in the year as well and no issues of any kind were found.
