Camp workers at LNG Canada’s Kitimat site are petitioning the company to match a recent wage increase given to construction workers.
Earlier this month, the company announced a 12 percent raise for building trades workers, but left out contracted camp workers.
Now, nearly 200 workers from three camps in Kitimat have signed a petition, urging them to match that increase, to help combat inflation.
Contracted camp workers include janitors, housekeepers, and culinary and front office employees, many of whom live pay cheque to pay cheque.
UNITE Here Local 40 presented the petition to LNG Canada today, on behalf of unionized workers they represent from the Horizon North Dexterra, Crossroads, and Civeo at Sitka lodges.
