An audit in to the government’s management of Covid-19 relief funding has been completed by BC’s Auditor General.
In September 2020, the ministry was given $30 million for the Community Economic Resiliency grant stream to help communities with Covid recovery.
Between then and March 2022, the audit determined that the Ministry of Municipal Affairs successfully administered the grant stream to 63 small scale infrastructure projects.
Of the 63 projects, 32 were local governments, 25 were non-profit groups, and 6 were Indigenous governments or organizations.
However, one recommendation was made to monitor funding usage in more detail, as well as verifying information given by applicants.
With the conclusion of the audit, the ministry will apply the recommendation to the application of future grant programs.
