$25 million in fresh funding is being made available by the Forest Enhancement Society of BC for community wildfire protection efforts.
Each year, the Society provides funding for projects to be undertaken at the community level, with this year’s stream focusing on reducing wildfire risks.
Supported projects will help with wildfire planning and treatment, risk reduction treatments, or recovery and utilization of low-value residual fibre resulting from FESBC funded risk-reduction activities.
To date, the Society has supported projects to reduce risks in 120 communities province-wide, with many exceeding their primary goals and outcomes.
