The Tahltan Central Government is making waves as they continue to march toward economic prosperity.
Recently, President Chad Norman Day and other Tahltan delegates went to Toronto to attend the prospectors and developers association of Canada conference, A premier mineral exploration and mining convention that draws delegates from all over the world.
Along with Day, the delegation was comprised of development corporation officials, staff members and for the first time, a cohort of 16 youths.
Day delivered two keynote addresses., one on” free, prior and informed consent navigating the U.N. declaration on the rights of indigenous peoples” and the other on “empowering indigenous entrepreneurs increasing industry participation through procurement, employee training and retention”.
Day also met with all of the mining companies in the Tahltan territory and emphasized the need to work together to get the province to invest more Tahltan generated resources in priorities like northern wildlife and fisheries management, health and safety issues, infrastructure and improving roads.
