In preparation for possible flooding and high-water events, the Regional District of Kitimat Stikine is sharing some tips.
With river levels rising alongside temperatures, streamflow advisories and flood warnings could soon follow this summer.
In order to help residents, the District is sharing a Flood Preparedness Guide and checklist, available to print off at this link.
Sandbags are also being made available at the Thornhill Fire Department on a self serve basis, between 8:30 and 4:30 in the afternoon.
A 24-hour emergency hotline is also available for those experiencing or displaced by flooding, which can be reached at 250 641 2443.

Kitsumkalum Emergency Management is also closely monitoring conditions, and is on standby, should flooding become imminent.
