A former camp chef is suing Coastal GasLink and contractor Civeo, alleging sexual battery, other harassment, and mistreatment by the companies.
According to the suit, the woman was working at the 9A and P2 lodges along CGL’s pipeline route, when the allegations took place.
She says that, while working in her private office, she was embraced by another employee without her consent, before being groped, followed by inappropriate comments on her body.
In addition, she claims that she was made to work extensive hours, without the breaks promised in her contract, and was penalized by the companies after bringing it up.
She also says that she and other employees were not informed by the companies of the November blockade ahead of time.
This left them with limited access to essential supplies, including water, and forced them to live in unsafe, and poor hygienic conditions.
As a result, she is suing Civeo for breach of contract, and both for damages and negligence.
As of yet, neither company has filed a response, and both say they will not comment while the matter is before the courts.
