Starting tomorrow, BC residents working jobs that only reach the minimum wage threshold will be getting a bit of a pay boost.
On June 1st, BC’s minimum wage will be increasing from $15.20 an hour to $15.65 an hour, which will be the highest minimum wage amount out of all provinces in Canada.
This increase in part has to do with the province promising back in 2018 that they would do what they could to help out workers and their families by gradually increasing the minimum wage over 5 years.
These increases have been touted to have helped as many as 400,000 workers in the province.
This latest increase also has a bit to do with BC’s average annual inflation rate, which is currently at 2.8 percent.
