Residents who live within Interior Health’s boundaries can now sign up for the Authority’s new Toxic Drug Alerts system.
Those who sign up will be sent toxic drug, drug poisoning, and public health alerts via text message.
In addition to the alerts, the system will provide information on how to prevent poisonings and deaths, and up-to-date resources for those who use drugs.
Community members can opt in to the alerts by texting the word JOIN to 253787, or ALERTS.
Those who sign up will be able to anonymously submit information relating to toxic drugs via text as well, using the keyword OD.
Developed by the CDC and Provincial Health Services, the system is expected to roll out to all other Health Authorities this summer.
