BC’s Independent Investigations Office is investigating, after a suspect was hit by a car while fleeing police in Prince George on Saturday.
RCMP say they were conducting patrols at the CN Fair Grounds when security reported a fight involving a youth male.
When officers approached the suspect to inform him he was being detained, and why, the suspect fled on foot before being struck by vehicle on Ospika Boulevard.
He was transported to hospital with serious injuries, and RCMP informed the IIO of the incident.
Now, the IIO will look in to whether or not the injuries sustained by the suspect were a result of police action.
No further details were released regarding the condition of the man, and police will conduct a simultaneous investigation in to the initial assault.
