On Saturday, the Peace River Regional District warned residents of a hydrocarbon spill in the community of Rolla.
Since then, they have received no updates from the Ministry of the Environment, with their site still listing the cause as unknown.
A sheen and a strong odour were initially reported in the community, 22 kms northeast of Dawson Creek, last Friday.
Residents have been asked to avoid the area, and those closest were warned they may need to shelter-in-place, should the odour worsen.
Aside from designating it as a hydrocarbon, no information has been released on what exactly the spilled substance may be.
An environmental emergency response officer from the Ministry is on site investigating, and Oakridge Environmental has been retained to assist with spill response.
