More than 33,000 employees of BC’s Public Service Agency could be hitting the picket line, pending the results of a strike vote later this month.
Public service workers represented by the BC General Employees’ Union will conduct a strike vote, beginning on May 16th.
Negotiations between the province and the Union hit a snag in early April, due to a significant gap in wage proposals.
According to the Union, provincial negotiators have tabled two deals so far, with neither proposing even half of the Union’s ask.
A vote count is scheduled for 5 weeks after the start of voting, on June 22nd, with their current contract having expired in March.
