One of the Port of Prince Rupert’s most well-known terminals has a new name, and a new, Coast Tsimshian inspired, identity.
Formerly known as Ridley Terminals, the multi-commodity bulk export terminal will now be known as Trigon Pacific Terminals Limited.
Once a Crown Corporation, the facility is now privately held by the Lax Kwa’laams Band and Metlakatla First Nation, alongside AMCI Group and Riverside Holdings.
Its new logo, a three-pointed symbol known as a trigon, is common among Coast Tsimshian art, and is known to represent upward movement and transition.
According to the groups, this honours their vision of advancing strong, sustainable, operation through Indigenous ownership, while honouring Coast Tsimshian culture and traditions.
It also speaks to the rapid advancement of the company’s strategy to handle new, green energy exports.
Trigon will continue to advance the permitted construction of a second berth, which would double the terminal’s throughput, and enable the handling of new, greener, products.
