Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc Chief Roseanne Casimir Acclaimed as Tribal Chief of the Shuswap Nation Tribal Council

Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc Chief Roseanne Casimir has been selected as the next Tribal Chief of the Shuswap Nation Tribal Council.

Chief Casimir was elected via acclamation today, as the only nominee running for the position.

She had been selected as SNTC Chairperson in January, to fill the role until an election could be held.

Outgoing Tribal Chief Wayne Christian had spent 12 years in the role, on top of 7 consecutive terms as Chief of Splatsin.

In January, Christian lost the Splatsin election to Chief Doug Thomas, prompting Casimir’s initial appointment.

Casimir is currently serving her second term as Chief of the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc.
