After two years in an interim role, Dr Geoffrey Payne has been selected as the University of Northern BC’s next president.
Dr Payne has filled various roles at UNBC since joining the university in 2004 as a physiology professor.
He also the founding Director of UNBC’s Health Research Institute, and has more than 40 publications to his name.
Over the past two years, Dr Payne guided the university through the pandemic, addressed budget pressures, improved diversity and inclusion, and helped to ratify a collective agreement with the UNBC Faculty Association.
Dr Payne will become the sixth president in the school’s history, replacing Dr Daniel Weeks.
