Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has revoked the Emergencies Act after being in place for just over a week.
Trudeau invoked the Act for the first time in the country’s history on February 14th, to deal with the “Freedom Convoy” in Ottawa.
Since then, police moved in and began clearing the protesters and cutting off their supplies, before beginning to make arrests.
That came after weeks of protesting vaccine mandates, and other restrictions, in the nation’s capital and across the country.
Trudeau’s decision to enact the order drew criticism from MPs on all sides of the political spectrum, both federally and provincially.
Now, Trudeau says order has been restored, and there is no longer a need to keep the Act in place.
A committee will be formed to review the use of the Act within 60-days.
