A new campaign launched by the Orange Shirt Society is using the power of sport to drive reconciliation.
Titled The Orange Jersey Project, the campaign will send orange practice jerseys to youth hockey teams around Canada.
Each jersey will have a QR code directing players to the Project’s online portal, where they can access educational programming.
Through the site, they will learn about residential schools and their impacts on Indigenous Peoples, and how to understand the meaning of truth and reconciliation.
In addition, the project, which is a collaboration with Keener Jerseys and sponsored by Canadian Tire, will also seek to promote the physical and mental wellness of Indigenous youth through sport.
