A court hearing for those arrested last year at a blockade opposing a Coastal GasLink pipeline has been adjourned.
Last November, nearly 30 individuals were arrested for attempting to block CGL from conducting work on unceded Wet’suwet’en territory.
Later that month, they were released on conditions to appear in court yesterday, for violating an injunction order covering the site.
Most Wet’suwt’en members were released on conditions that they remain 10 feet away from CGL equipment and worksites, while returning to their territory to hunt, and participate in cultural practices.
Those arrested who were not Wet’suwet’en were ordered not to return to the injunction zone.
Initially scheduled for yesterday in Smithers, the hearing has now been adjourned until March 14th.
CGL says the adjournment gives them more time to review the case and decide on whether or not they want to pursue criminal charges.
