An avalanche from last night has closed Highway 37A, east of Stewart.
Crews are currently on site clearing the debris, but the road isn’t expected to open until later this evening.
Currently, the Highway is closed between the Pearly Gates, east of Stewart, and the Surprise Pullot, west of Meziadin.
There is no estimated re-opening time currently available, and DriveBC’s next update is coming at 6:00 this evening.
Earlier today, Avalanche Canada and Parks Canada each issued an avalanche warning for anyone headed in to the backcountry in BC.
That warning will remain in place through the weekend, and covers the entirety of the North and Cariboo.
Highway 37A was closed in the same spot yesterday due to heightened avalanche risks.
