Visitors to the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops will soon be greeted with fresh Indigenous artwork.
Interior Health has announced a new partnership which will see a cultural wall, designed by artist Chris Bose, go up at the hospital.
To be featured in the new Phil and Jennie Gaglardi Tower at the hospital, the wall will be a representation of traditional Secwépemc territory to honour guests to the region.
A partnership between the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc, Secwépemc Health Caucus, Two Rivers Métis Society and the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation, will make the installation possible.
Bose is a Secwépemc and Nlaka’pamux artist, and will engage with Nations whose territory surrounds the hospital.
Those include: the Secwépemc, Dãkelh Dené, Tsilhqot’in, Northern St’at’imc, Nlaka’pamux and Syilx.
Both the Two Rivers Métis Society in Kamloops and Métis Nation BC are also being consulted, along with neighbouring Inuit Peoples.
