Earlier today, a statement was made by Prime Minister Trudeau regarding a treatment that was recently approved by Health Canada.
Trudeau stated that while Pfizer’s new Paxlovid treatment, which is soon going to be available to a certain number of adults, is a rather useful tool to have, it will not help increase Canada’s vaccination rate among kids.
According to the Public Health Agency of Canada, only 3.2 percent of kids between 5 and 11 years old had been fully vaccinated by January 8th, which is reportedly a small number compared to other countries.
The Prime Minister also mentioned that Paxlovid should not be used as a vaccine substitute for anyone either.
Trudeau went on to say that this treatment will only be able to be used by people 18 and older to start and that getting kids vaccinated is still the best way to protect them from COVID.
