Renovations are on the way for one of Quesnel’s three fire halls, after the City agreed to invest fresh funds.
Councillors voted for the spending of up to 2 million dollars of reserve funds to complete renovations on the Kinchant Street Fire Hall.
Previously, the City was given 2.5 million dollars in provincial and federal grant funding for the project.
But, unexpected costs arose, and the project’s estimated price tag now sits at around 4 million.
That does not include replacement of the building’s sprinkler system, expected to cost an additional 250 thousand.
Funding will come from the City’s Capital Reinvestment Reserve funds.
