While Covid hospitalizations continue to balloon, Dr Bonnie Henry says she expects the numbers to level off soon.
But, in order to do so, she also says that is dependent on residents continuing to get vaccinated and get their boosters.
While vaccinated individuals can still contract the Omicron variant, they are 50 percent less likely to do so.
In addition, Omicron continues to be mostly mild in vaccinated individuals, as unvaccinated cases make up the vast majority of hospitalizations.
Residents are 60 to 70 percent less likely to require hospitalization care for up to 6 months following their last vaccine dose or booster.
Dr Henry says the province is also looking in to additional treatment methods, which are currently under review by Health Canada.
In addition, 959 thousand new rapid tests arrived in the province yesterday, and are currently being split up and deployed.
For the time being, no new restrictions were announced, though Dr Henry and Minister Adrian Dix are scheduled for another briefing Friday morning.
