In response to the bitter temperatures expected the next few days, BC has activated all of their emergency response shelters.
That means more than 1,900 temporary shelter spaces and nearly 360 extreme weather shelter spaces will be available.
Those numbers represent a 25 percent increase in the number of shelter spaces available, when compared to last year.
Most shelters began opening their doors earlier in the month, but Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth says all the shelters are now open to combat the cold.
