Métis National Council Unanimously Supports Métis Nation of BC’s Efforts to Come to a Self-Governing Agreement

Work towards a self-government agreement between Canada and the Métis Nation of BC will continue with the Support of the Métis National Council.

The MNC advocates on behalf of democratically elected Métis governments in BC, Alberta, Ontario, and Saskatchewan.

But the Métis Nation of BC, are the only ones of the four yet to reach a Métis Government Recognition and Self-Government Agreement.

Members of the National Council voted unanimously to support MNBC in their endeavours to come to that, or any other type of self-governing agreement.

Currently, the MNBC registers, identifies, and represents Métis citizens living in BC, and is mandated to advance their inherent right to self-government.
