An Independent Investigations Office report in to a fatal pedestrian-involved collision near Hixon last week has revealed unexpected information.
Last Wednesday, police responded to the intersection of Highway 97 and Widdis Road, where they found a deceased pedestrian.
An investigation was launched in to the incident, and yesterday the IIO released their report.
According to them, the pedestrian who had been struck and killed had fled from RCMP in Prince George earlier that night.
Officers had attempted to pull over the man, who had been driving a red Dodge Caravan, just before midnight last Tuesday.
But, the individual fled, and was able to escape police pursuit.
Yesterday’s report says that an individual near Hixon reported having spoken to the man that night, who said he was hiding from police.
When officers arrived on the scene of the collision, they found the red Caravan close by.
RCMP have been cleared in wrong-doing in the incident, but an investigation is still on-going.
