The annual Minerals North Conference was interrupted last year due to the COVID pandemic and this year it’s still up in the air.
Kitimat was the chosen site for the event in 2020, but COVID restrictions nixed that plan, Quesnel was picked for 2021’s conference which also got cancelled but both say they are ready to host the event in 2022 depending on the restrictions.
Organizers are reluctant to hold the next conference virtually because the visits are a key part of the gathering. Also, those who go to the accompanying trade show in person want to showcase their capabilities and they can’t do it on a computer.
Organizers are still working on details for a 2022 conference if it gets the green light. They are encouraging people to go check out other similar events like the Smithers exploration group “rock talk” in February.
