Members of the Tl’esqox First Nation, near Williams Lake, will soon benefit from 8 million dollars in affordable housing funds.
Through the CMHC’s Rapid Housing Initiative, 20 new residential units, of modular design, will be coming to the community in 2022.
Of the new units, 10 will be family units, 5 will be for single individuals, and 5 will be accessible units.
Homes built under the rapid housing initiative must be inhabited by the end of 2022.
Cement foundations for the new units will help them better manage winter conditions, and will be in place by around June.
Rent costs have not yet been announced, but Band members will have a chance to begin applying for housing early next year.
