British Columbia will be extending its state of emergency in to December, as recovery from extreme flooding and landslides continues.
Initially put in place in Mid-November, the state of emergency was necessary after a streak of intense flooding and landslides destroyed southern roadways and infrastructure.
Now, with threats of extreme weather and flooding continuing, the province has decided to extend the order until December 14th.
There are currently over 3,600 properties on evacuation orders, and a further 7,400 on evac alert.
Non-essential travel is still barred on sections of Highway 3, 7, and 99, as work to repair them continues.
In addition, a fuel order covering most of the South, as far north as Hope, has also been extended until December 14th.
That means non-essential drivers south of Hope, and the northern tip of Vancouver Island, will be restricted to 30 litres of gas per fill up.
Two thousand dollars in financial assistance from the Red Cross will be given to individuals who were displaced from their primary residence by the emergencies.
