Extreme weather conditions along the North Coast and some inland areas are expected to continue in to today.
On Wednesday, powerful winds and buckets of rain wreaked havoc in Prince Rupert, freeing a container ship from its mooring, damaging the hospital, and taking out power poles.
Said ship has since been re-floated with minimal damage after running aground, and the damaged portion of the hospital roof has been re-secured.
But, that wasn’t all for Northern residents as heavy rainfall continued in to the inland, causing large water pools along Highway 37 between Terrace and Kitimat.
High streamflow advisories issued Wednesday for waters in the Prince Rupert, Kitimat, Hartley Bay, Kemano, and surrounding areas are still in place today.
Winds in Prince Rupert are expected to remain high today, gusting up to 80 km/h, though a wind warning that had been in place yesterday has been lifted.
