Mike Dangeli is nearing the finish line on his second in a series of totem poles soon to adorn the Highway of Tears.
Titled the Brother Pole, the new pole follows the Grandmother Pole, which was erected just off the Highway in Kitsumkalum.
The Grandmother Pole honoured Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, and those impacted by the continuing tragedy with unique culturally inspired art.
With his newest work, the Nisga’a carver focused on the men and boys also missing, as well as survivors of Residential Schools.
The Brother Pole will be raised at the Dze L K’ant Friendship Centre Society’s Cultural Centre in Smithers Today.
You can catch the ceremony live on CFNR’s Facebook pages beginning at 11:00, or find a recording on this website later in the day.
