Just over 102 hectares of culturally significant land is being returned to the Xatśūll First Nation.
Located Northwest of Blue Lake, which itself is North of Williams Lake, the area used to be at the heart of the Nation’s traditional territory.
This is evidenced by artifacts and archaeological remnants unearthed in the area.
While the Nation’s Council has not yet decided what to do with the new land, it has been used as a swimming and fishing destination by community members in the past.
Held as simple-fee lands, the new territory will not add to the Nation’s reserve lands.
