NH Provides Updates on Outbreaks at GR Baker Memorial and Bulkley Valley District Hospitals

Northern Health is updating the public on the situation of Covid outbreaks declared earlier this month at two hospitals.

On October 19th, an outbreak was declared covering the Inpatient Unit, excluding the maternity section, at Bulkley Valley District Hospital in Smithers.

There have been 5 confirmed cases among patients at the hospital, with one passing away.

There have been five confirmed cases among patients, and five among staff, at GR Baker Memorial Hospital in Quesnel, though all have recovered.

While the outbreak is still in place for the Inpatient Unit there, no new cases have been confirmed in nearly two weeks.

Enhanced outbreak control measures remain in place at both hospitals for the time being.
