A new course has been created on the recommendation of Indigenous youth to help them and their families better manage their finances.
Today, the Royal Bank of Canada is launching their Financial Literacy for Indigenous Peoples’ course.
The course was created based on discussions with First Nations in 2019 following the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal from that year.
It hopes to help Indigenous people learn how to invest lump sum money provided in government compensations, and navigate child welfare changes outlined in that Tribunal.
The free, two hour course, is split in to a number of easily accessible modules covering budgeting, managing debt, savin and investing, and more.
