Despite claims made by the Prime Minister last week, the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation says they have not yet received all documents relating to the Residential School System.
During his visit with the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc last week, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that all federal records had already been turned over.
But the Centre says that they have yet to receive final versions of school narratives and supporting documents used in the compensation claims process.
According to the Centre, it is also missing key documents from Library and Archives Canada, and from provincial governments, including death certificates and Coroner’s reports.
During his visit last week, Trudeau said the Federal government would look for further records from the Catholic Church.
