Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is calling out the Catholic Church for their lack of accountability in the Residential School tragedy.
According to the Prime Minister, other Churches who signed the 2005 Residential School Survivors settlement have taken “extraordinary steps as partners in reconciliation”.
But the PM says he is disappointed in the Catholic Church’s refusal to take responsibility, morally or financially.
Recent details came to light about the Church’s failure to pay out 79 million dollars in promised compensation to Residential School Survivors.
Last week, NDP MP Charlie Angus called out Trudeau in a letter for letting the Church off the hook for that sum.
