Covid continues to wreak havoc on hospital bed availability across the province.
According to an update from Health Minister Adrian Dix, over 95 percent of base hospital beds in the province are currently filled.
In addition, just 55 of the 510 critical care beds in the province are vacant, an issue the province has attempted to quell by introducing more than 200 new beds.
With hospital real estate filling up fast, a number of surgeries in the province are being postponed.
Over the past two weeks, 556 non-urgent surgeries have been postponed across the province, with 107 of those coming from within Northern Health’s boundaries.
Interior Health is the only Health Authority in BC to register 0 postponements over that time.
In total, 1940 surgeries have been postponed since September 5th, in that same time, Northern Health has seen 65 patients transferred to other Authorities.
