Serious outcomes as a result of Covid infections in school-aged children continues to be low, according to new data from the BCCDC.
Cases of Covid-19 in schools peaked in late September and have been trending downwards since.
Between October 6th and the 13th, there were 204 new cases among those aged 0-4, with three hospitalizations and no deaths.
The 5-11 age group saw 877 new cases, with one hospitalization, and zero deaths over that same time period.
And those aged 12-17 saw 267 new cases, with two hospitalizations and no deaths.
In the North, cases initially spiked when school started, in line with additional testing, but have since seen a steady decline.
Among those aged 5-17 since January 2020, there have been just 94 hospitalizations, 10 Critical Care admissions, and zero deaths.
