BC Hydro is unsure of what caused a brief power outage which surged across the northwest coast yesterday.
While power was only down for a matter of seconds, the outage affected more than 8 thousand residents.
The Utility says the outage started with a blown circuit at the Skeena substation, and impacted customers in Prince Rupert, Lax Kw’alaams, Gitxaala, and more.
But Hydro says that power was automatically restored within seconds, when their protective system detected there was no fault.
According to the Utility, it is difficult to source the true cause of short outages like this one.
