The government of BC has made an announcement that men in the province that have survived abuse, will be able to get job and skills training in order to help them find work.
BC officials said that for starters, 12 people are going to receiving training for construction worker and general labor jobs.
The participant’s training is going be consisting of nine weeks of occupational and employability skills training, then they’ll move onto four weeks of on-the-job work and after that, one week of follow-up support to help them finally get hired.
Counseling is another thing that will be available to these men via this project.
Nicolas Simons, BC’s Social Development and Poverty Reduction Minister, added that this project will not only help with BC’s need for construction workers, but it will hopefully help these men overcome their abuse as well.
