Prince George City officials are looking to acquire an injunction that would allow them to dismantle two homeless camps.
Filed in late August, the City made arguments to the BC Supreme Court yesterday on why the injunction is needed.
According to the City, their intent is to relocate those living at the Moccasin Flats and the Splits encampments.
Officials want to relocate them prior to cold weather hitting, but those opposed to the injunction say that’s not reasonable.
They claim that, not only is the space very limited, but many shelters do not accept those with addictions or trauma related issues.
As Bylaws already prohibit camping at both sites, many argue an injunction is not needed, as it would fall under existing RCMP jurisdiction.
But the City argues that an injunction allows for more control, reporting, and transparency around the situation.
