A new report has revealed that most initial Covid cases in long-term care homes stemmed from staff.
Looking in to the first two waves of Covid, the report collected data from 487 facilities in BC.
It found that over three quarters of cases at the homes between March and August of last year were linked to staff.
It also revealed that, over the same time period, roughly 40 percent of long-term care staff went to work while partially sick.
The report calls for improvements to paid sick leave programs to prevent employees from feeling the need to go to work while ill.
Residents of long-term care homes are more than 30 times more likely to die from Covid-19.
