In an effort to kickstart stalled vaccinations rates, Ottawa has issued new restrictions for most Federal employees, as well as travelers.
Any Federal employee or contractor working in public administration or for the RCMP, must be fully vaccinated by month’s end.
In addition, Federally regulated organizations in the air, marine, and rail transport industries will be required to implement mandatory vaccination programs of their own.
Those restrictions would cover all workers, including those working at on-site service providers, such as restaurants.
Crown Corporations will also be required to implement their own systems.
If unvaccinated employees fail to provide a medical or religious exemption by October 30th, they will be subject to unpaid leave.
They will also be subject to possible discipline or dismissal, and will not qualify for EI.
For travelers, all those leaving Canada via airplane will be required to provide proof of vaccination by months end.
All travelers on Federal rail or marine cruise services will need to do the same.
