Waste management continues to be a hot topic across the North, and while the situation is unique, that holds true for Bella Coola.
The Bella Coola Landfill has a maximum of about 20 years left before it will need to be closed.
But, according to the Central Coast Regional District, that isn’t something they’ll be in a financial position to do, without help.
They also say that properly upkeeping and expanding the current landfill would prove to costly itself.
At this year’s UBCM convention, which wrapped up last month, the District put forward a resolution to help them find funding.
That resolution was supported by the vast majority of municipal representatives present at the Convention.
But the vote only means that the District will have the Convention’s support in their quest for funding.
