Five communities in the Northwest are among 62 Indigenous communities set to receive provincial poverty-reduction funds.
Just under 35 thousand dollars will go to the Gitxaala Nation to go towards regalia crafting, and skill-development.
Another 35 thousand will go to the Gitga’at Nation to improve traditional food preparation and acquisition.
The Kitselas, Kispiox, and Sik-E-Dakh Nations will also all get close to 35 thousand for food security related endeavours.
In total, 2.7 million dollars in grants will be handed out as part of the program.
