Quesnel residents will soon have a place to honour and commemorate the victims of the Residential School System all year round.
City Council voted unanimously yesterday to dedicate the amphitheater park next to City Hall as a place of permanent commemoration.
It will also act as a gathering place and place of healing for those impacted by the Residential School tragedy.
Now, the City and local Indigenous partners and groups will get to work on a redesign of the park.
Plans are to open the park in early 2022, and to secure the funding to convert it to a commemorative place by next Truth and Reconciliation Day.
