A saga more than a year in the making, which became the largest act of civil disobedience in Canada’s history, may be coming to an end.
Following more than 1,000 arrests over the 6 month order, the BC Supreme Court has refused to extend the Fairy Creek Injunction.
Protests over Teal Cedar Projects’ logging endeavours in the area began last summer.
According to the Court, the enforcement of the order led to civil liberties being infringed upon.
Meanwhile, the National Police Federation says they are proud of the way officers handled the injunction.
For others, the ruling marks a win in efforts to defend BC’s old-growth forests.
