Fans of fireworks are not going to be fans of new restrictions set to take effect in Terrace this year.
A new bylaw amendment will restrict the use of fireworks and related explosive devices to October 31st only, unless a permit is acquired.
The City of Terrace already employs a strict permitting process, which generally denies all individual requests outside of a few holidays.
Currently, the unpermitted use and sale of fireworks is allowed between October 24th and November 1st.
Initially, the amendment also restricted the sale of fireworks to just three days, but after council discussion, that section was removed.
While Council agreed that it was just for a grace period, the current sale period will remained unchanged for this year.
Council gave the amendment all three readings, and will seek to adopt it at their next meeting.
