A new plan announced by BC Hydro today looks to incentivise residents who switch from fossil fuels to electricity to power their homes.
Nearly 190 million of a new 260 million dollar plan will go towards promoting fuel switching to reduce carbon footprints.
Incentives will apply to homes, businesses, and vehicles.
Another 50 million dollars from the 5 year plan will go towards attracting businesses and convincing them to use hydroelectricity.
According to the province, the new plan could lead to lower rates, which could drop by an estimated 1.6 percent by 2026.
