The City of Quesnel has made it known that they are planning on making a memorial for residential school victims in the amphitheatre park that is located right next to city hall.
The city council meeting that will happen tomorrow contains a staff report in it’s agenda that outlines the costs of the project, which could add up to $43,450, and it is also asking for the council’s approval to take money out of the 2021 and 2022 council initiatives budget.
Amy Reid, the city of Quesnel’s manager of economic development and tourism who happened to write a report of her own, noted that this project would have a lot of collaboration with multiple local Indigenous communities.
The initial report also said that it was possible that grants could end up being available to use for the project.
